Facebook Friends

Today on Facebook, I got to see pictures of my great nephew’s new house—even though he lives clear across the country. He used to only live an hour away, but busy schedules kept us from interacting much. Once in awhile, his mom would catch me up but other than that I really didn’t get to share much in Jon’s life.

We started interacting on FB while he was in Afghanistan. And, thanks to the instant message feature, we even got to chat a little. It astounds me to think I can keep up with family and friends all over the United States as well as in Lithuania, Africa, Australia and Malaysia—almost instantaneously. My FB friend, Joky, I’ve never met in person but her posts make me feel like we’re kindred spirits. When her country recently struggled with civil unrest, I feared for her safety and prayed for peace.

Facebook has helped me envision how the Creator sees each individual and hears their prayers all at once. I reside outside FB. Because the posts are two-dimensional and I’m three—I can observe and interact at will. They (the posts) don’t know I’m here, but that doesn’t change the fact that I am and that I can see many of them almost at the same time.

The Creator stands outside of space and time. He created the dimensions in this universe and, therefore, is not governed by them.  Without a time component—He can see everything instantaneously and has enough power to do whatever He wants. The question is does He want the same things we do?

But I’ll tackle that topic later. For now I want to stick with relationships because a relationship with the Creator--the Source or Fountainhead of all things--helps me conquer my fears. That relationship will be the subject of Monday’s post.
